Fort Zeelandia on the Essequibo River in Guyana

Who Doesn’t Like Peanut Butter? – A Peanut Butter Factory in the Rupununi

Do you know anybody who doesn’t like peanut butter? I don’t and nobody has ever understood why I didn’t like it.

Neither did I. I just didn’t.

Until…

A Museum about Frying Pans? – The Steel-pan Culture in Guyana

In my guidebook I had read about a steel pan museum in Georgetown.

Convinced that a steel pan was a frying pan I wondered why anyone would want a museum about steel pans.

I didn’t give the matter any further thought and ignored the museum.

The Remains of What Once Was the Largest Sawmill in the Caribbean (Guyana)

We had been driving all day through the rainforest and couldn’t find a place to camp because there weren’t any clearings.

Until we came upon a fork and, in the distance, saw an antenna, which indicated habitation.
